Why Go
Home to a large Star Trek memorabilia collection, the Vulcan Tourism & Trek Station offers a glimpse into the Star Trek Universe. Dress in costume and view the museum’s curated displays including set used props, planets and ships swinging over head, and hundreds of items from your favorite Star Trek Series. There is a special room containing artist created costumes and a replica of Captain’s Kirk’s Chair you can picture yourself in! Light posts and sidewalks make your stroll down town unique as you explore Vulcan's solar park, museum, swimming pool, replica transporter, and various large Star Trek Murals. You can purchase a Vulcan area or Star Trek souvenir in the Trek Station gift shop, or better yet a post card that can be stamped with the Spock cancellation stamp at the post office! Don't forget to see the bust of Spock and put your into his very hand print. The Star Trek character photostand-in makes for a great family picture. It is situated right beside the iconic Vulcan Starship FX6-1995-A proudly overlooking Highway 23, halfway between Calgary and Lethbridge.
What's Great
Best known for Spock’s bust/hand print and the Vulcan Tourism & Trek Station, Vulcan is home to the annual 3 day Star Trek convention. Held since 2003, VulCON occurs on last weekend in July, bringing together hundreds of Star Trek enthusiasts for an immersive weekend of all things Trek: rubbing shoulders with Celebrity Guest Stars, meeting fellow Trek enthusiasts, Cosplay, Vendors and much more.
Local Tip:
Vulcan is conveniently located one hour from both Lethbridge and Calgary, making it a great destination when visiting friends and family in either city or when making a circle tour route visiting the Tyrell Museum in Drumheller or Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump near Fort McLeod. Open May 1 to mid-September annually.
