Discover Stories of the Past
Hollywood has made the covered wagon and the stagecoach icons of the idealized Old West. Climb into the stagecoach used by Jackie Chan in Disney's Shanghai Noon and by Tom Selleck in Crossfire Trail. Travelling is a lot different now, no doubt about it (for more reasons than air conditioning or travel mugs), but thanks to the Remington Carriage Museum, you can discover fascinating stories about transportation. The world's largest carriage museum, the Remington houses over 300 coaches, carriages, wagons, and sleighs. Tour the main gallery where 16 different exhibits take you through the 19th-century horse-drawn era. Visit our Clydesdales in the stables, or tour the tack room and coach house. Experience interactive exhibits and a working restoration shop. The museum is just 40 km away from Waterton Lakes National Park and Montana's Glacier National Park. Cardston is two hours south of Calgary, right at the start of the Cowboy Trail. So, you can either follow it through Longview via Hwy 22 or take Hwy 2 south from Calgary, straight to Cardston.
