Aviation History Takes Flight
The Hangar Flight Museum is located just south of YYC Calgary International Airport. The building in which the museum collection is held had its origins in the founding of the British Commonwealth Air Training Program in Calgary. Built in 1941, it was the drill hall for the #37 Secondary Flight Training School. The museum features a wide variety of civilian and military aircraft spanning the entire century of Canadian flight. It currently holds over 30 aircraft, from a Curtiss Jenny to a Hawker Hurricane, and allows guests to explore, engage, and experience the transformational power of flight. The museum contains aircraft, exhibits, uniforms, and scale models. Restoration projects are ongoing.
