This afternoon, our great partners at Calgary Stampede and Calgary Folk Music Festival announced that due to the effects of COVID-19, the annual showpiece events will be cancelled. Along with all the other events, festivals, meetings and conventions in our city that have faced cancellation, postponement or reimagination, we extend our thanks and appreciation to organizers and volunteers for the hard work, hard decisions and countless hours of effort expended on behalf of our city, citizens and visitors.

Calgary Stampede is about community spirit, and that’s what we at Tourism Calgary have been thinking a lot about. Despite the very difficult circumstances, community spirit is at the heart of our industry. Together, we’re unstoppable at fostering community spirit - and more importantly, at sharing it - and that’s exactly what we’ll continue to do. We won’t be deterred by what we won’t have this year, rather, we’ll find new ways to engage Calgarians, share good news and promote our industry partners. That’s the Calgary way.
