September 10 to 14, 2014 

On September 10 - 14th, in Calgary, Beakerhead will be kicking off a weeklong smashup of arts, engineering and science events with mechanical creatures, multi-story art installations, talks from famous and soon-to-be famous scientists and astronauts, and performances by people and machines.

There are 30 arts, science and engineering events and performances happening in Calgary over five days for Beakerhead, including:


  • Free outdoor performances and installations
  • Fun, family-friendly, hands-on events, like Sustainival, the world's first green carnival and midway, and an event showcasing the best of Alberta's backyard inventions called Built in Your Backyard at the Calgary Mini Maker Faire
  • Late night laboratories, science buskers and street parties
  • Interactive digital and robot-themed theatrical performances (including the world’s heaviest metal band, literally)
  • Theatre performances and presentations from famous and soon-to-be-famous artists, engineers, astronauts and scientists
