PCL Blues Series presents Mary Flower Friday, March 14, 2014 Doors open 7pm, Concert 8pm EPCOR CENTRE's Engineered Air Theatre "There are few musicians in the genre bringing as much creative spark and low-key mojo to this century-old music…" ~ Acoustic Guitar Magazine Mary Flower is celebrated for her uniquely personal vision of roots music that blends ragtime, acoustic blues and folk. Her style is technically stunning yet grounded in the down-to-earth simplicity of early 20th century American music. With nine albums to her credit, Flower has earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for her unassuming vocals. But it's her instrumental skill – a mastery of the difficult Piedmont blues guitar –for which Flower is most noted. Her fingerpicking forms the basis of a ragtime-based style as her fingers etch out the melody. Mary also excels at lap slide guitar, allowing her to infuse songs with a supremely delicate sound that is hers alone, while recalling the blues giants of the past.
