The Tour de Bowness is the biggest amateur cycling race in Alberta. Hosted by Bow Cycle & Sports, it is a three day omnium race consisting of a road race, hill climb and a community based criterium. New for 2024, we are part of the inaugural Strive Cycling Stage Race, an event for U17 and U19 women.

The Road Race, on Saturday August 3rd, takes place just north of Cochrane, with majestic views of the foothills and mountains in the backdrop. Racing starts at 8:00 AM.

Sunday's Hill Climb is a spectator friendly event in the community of Montgomery Calgary. A short 1 kilometer race that challenges the participants as the incline jumps up to 10% grade as it nears the top of the hill. Fans cover the last couple hundred meters cheering on the athletes as they push themselves to the apex of the climb and the finish. Racing starts at 9:00 AM.

Monday's event takes place on the Heritage Day holiday and the crowds come out to watch the racers push themselves around the closed course around Bow Cycle & Sports in Bowness. On the lighter side, during a break midday, watch or bring your children for the TdB kids rodeo. The youngsters get to race part or all of the course depending on age. Racing starts at 9:00 AM.

Don't worry if you need a break from the excitement on the Monday, the local BIA hosts a street festival with activities for the entire family.
