Sunday Bookclub — Alcove Centre for the Arts

Join us at The Sunday Book Club YYC for a cozy afternoon of discussing our favorite reads over drinks and snacks!

Hey Calgary readers (and future readers )! We invite you to join us at The Sunday Book Club YYC, a cozy, come-as-you-are space for thought-provoking conversations, good energy, and new connections.

Our book of the month is The Reformatory by Tananarive Due. Set in Jim Crow Florida, the reformatory follows twelve-year-old Robert Stephen Jr who is sent to Gracetown School for Boys, a reformatory, for kicking the son of the largest landowner in town in defense of his older sister, Gloria. At this reform school, he sees the horrors of racism and injustice, for the living, and the dead.

There’ll be snacks, drinks, and the kind of discussion that makes you rethink, reflect, and maybe even heal a little.

Come read, sip, snack, and chat your way into something special.

This event is organized by The Sunday Book Club, for any questions, contact them here.
