Right Hand Woman by Jocelyn Mah
About the event
Deftly traversing the boundaries between dance, theatre, and puppetry, Right Hand Woman is a comical feminist battle cry that shines a spotlight on the effects of misogyny on artists with the lived experience of womanhood.
This short excerpt from the work offers a surrealist glimpse into Jocelyn’s “living womb,” reaffirming and rejoicing in the performance of womanhood as a never-ending rebellion that persists—even in the face of death.
The presentation is accompanied by an artist talk, featuring visual materials and reflections on the piece’s creation, a show-and-tell of the production’s puppets with designer and builder Juanita Dawn, and an open Q&A that invites curiosity and collective exchange with the audience.
