Origami and Movement Workshop with Shion Skye Carter and Miya Turnbull

Participants will learn how to fold Miya’s self-portrait origami designs and use them in improvised movement with Shion!

In this Origami and Movement Workshop co-facilitated by visual artist Miya Turnbull (Halifax) and dance artist Shion Skye Carter (Vancouver) is presented in conjunction with their performance Omote (面). Participants will learn how to fold Miya’s self-portrait origami designs, shaping the paper portraits into interactive designs emphasizing identity as something formed through gesture, pressure, and process.

This workshop and the performance Omote (面) is co-presented by Esker Foundation and Springboard Performance as part of Fluid Fest 2026.
