About the event
What if there was one object that embodied the countless stories of a truly diverse Canada?
The Six String Nation guitar, officially nicknamed Voyageur, is a unique steel-string acoustic instrument constructed from 64 pieces of Canadian history and heritage, representing diverse cultures, communities, and events from every province and territory. Conceived by broadcaster Jowi Taylor and built by Nova Scotia luthier George Rizsanyi, the guitar was completed in 2006 with a mission to explore Canadian identity.
Please join Alberta artists JJ Shiplett, John Wort Hannam, Emily Triggs, and Jaiden Riley for an intimate evening of songs and stories as we celebrate not only a selection of Canadian musical classics, but a uniquely living instrument.
Voyageur is the perfect vehicle to amplify our stories and accompany our songs, built from a collection of parts as resonant and diverse as the country that inspired it.
