Chalk the Block and Montgomery Street Festival

Chalk the Block and Montgomery Street Market is a free, community-driven street festival that transforms Montgomery's sidewalks into a vibrant canvas of creativity and connection. The festival celebrates local businesses, encourages social connection, and activates public space in an inclusive, feel-good way. Chalk the Block returns on June 27th along Bowness Road between 44th and 46th Streets.

At the heart of the festival is our chalk art competition, where local artists, families, and community members are invited to claim a square of sidewalk and turn it into something extraordinary. Whether you're an individual artist or love creating collaboratively, this is your chance to show off your skills and compete for cash prizes! Registration is completely free, and chalk supplies are provided — all you need to bring is your creativity. The street becomes a living gallery for the day, open for everyone to stroll, admire, and celebrate together. If last year is anything to go by, the competition will be fierce and the live art absolutely spectacular. We're looking for artists of all skill levels to sign up — there's a square with your name on it!

This year's street festival will also feature local vendors, makers, and artisans, alongside live entertainment and everything that makes Montgomery such a special community. We're also thrilled to welcome a beer garden hosted by Brewsmith Brewing — a perfect way to kick back, enjoy a cold one, and soak in the summer vibes with your neighbours.
