During 10 weeks of every year (April and May), the 150,000 sq ft Oval is available to rent and has been host to major national sporting events, tradeshows, car shows, exhibitions, and science fairs. The Olympic Oval is a legacy facility of the 1988 Olympic Games. An important and integral part of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology; the Oval is a speed-skating facility, a research facility for UCalgary kinesiology scholars, a training facility for varsity athletes and a public facility (public skating and running) to serve the University community.
