Tourism Calgary’s White Hat Academy wins multiple tourism industry awards
First-of-its-kind tourism industry learning program wins 2019 Travel Alberta Alto Service Excellence Award and 2019 Destinations International WOW Award.
Oct. 29, 2019 – Last night, Tourism Calgary’s White Hat Academy - a free, first-of-its-kind online destination learning program – won Travel Alberta’s 2019 Alto Service Excellence Award. This marks the second industry award Tourism Calgary has received in recognition of its exemplary ideas and creativity in visitor services. This past September, the organization also accepted Destinations International’s 2019 “Most Replicable” Wow Award.
Launched in March 2019, the White Hat Academy ensures visitor-facing members of Calgary’s tourism industry are equipped with the knowledge, tools and resources they need to be better ambassadors and storytellers for our city.
“With over 530 graduates and two prominent industry awards earned to-date, the White Hat Academy has truly earned its place as the ultimate resource for Calgary’s tourism industry,” said Cindy Ady, CEO, Tourism Calgary. “Feedback toward this program has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to watching it continue to grow and support Calgary’s robust visitor economy.”
Tourism Calgary is also pleased to celebrate the accomplishments of its fellow Alto Award winners and valued partners, Calaway Park and the Calgary Zoo. As industry leaders, these organizations are doing their part to amplify our city’s offerings and to inspire visitors and Calgarians to seek out – and share – the experiences that are uniquely Calgary’s.
