As one of Northwest Calgary’s newest neighbourhoods, University District (U/D) is a modern urban community that boasts great location, walkability, and convenience. Just minutes from the University of Calgary, Market Mall, The Alberta Children's Hospital, and the Foothills Hospital, University District is home to many restaurants, shops, and parks, with more on the way.

Best Restaurants in University District 

There are plenty of dining options all located conveniently close to one another in University District. From upscale dining at CHARCUT to local dessert at Village Ice Cream, U/D’s Retail Main Street is a great place to hop from one restaurant to the next. 

  • CHARCUT - This restaurant combines local chef-driven cuisine with Italian and Country French accents. Ingredients are sourced from small, local artisan farmers and ranchers, with herbs harvested daily from its own garden. 
  • Connie & John’s Pizza - Attached to CHARCUT is Connie & John’s. This takeout and pickup outlet takes takeaway pizza to the next level, offering fresh, made-to-order pizzas with a delicious line-up of sides, desserts, and drinks. 
  • OEB Breakfast Co. - Sink your teeth into items like the 'Gold Digga Breakfast Poutine,’ 'Moroccan Waterfowl Benny,’ and ‘The Cluck Norris’ chicken burger at this Calgary classic.

U/D’s Central Block and Central Commons Park also play host to local events, furthering it as a community focal point and gathering place. Here are three of the neighbourhood’s favourites.
