Shaw Charity Classic
Shaw Charity Classic
What is the Shaw Charity Classic?
World-class golf is at home in Calgary: the Shaw Charity Classic has won the President’s Award as the top event on the PGA TOUR Champions in 2014, 2015, and 2017. And this year is lined up to be another winner, too.
What’s on the agenda?
Wednesday and Thursday are rounds 1 and 2 of the RBC Championship Pro-Am, where local golfers, from scratch players to high-handicappers, get to play the championship venue with a PGA TOUR Champions professional – and admission to watch the pro-am rounds is free!
Mark Super Saturday at the Shaw Charity Classic on your calendars, featuring a concert by Canadian country music star Chad Brownlee. This is a great way to kick off the Canadian Country Music Awards in Calgary, starting September 5, 2019.
Check out the full Tournament Week Schedule to see what's happening every day.
Is the Shaw Charity Classic just for golfers?
Like many families, finding an activity that everyone will enjoy can be challenging: the kids want something fun, mom wants to learn from the LPGA pros, and dad wants to kick back on the patio and enjoy the last great weekend of summer. At the Shaw Charity Classic, everyone can have a great time.
Saturday is Kid’s Day, with lawn games, a scavenger hunt, and local mascots. The first 100 children in the KidZone will get a complimentary lunch coupon and a free giveaway! To keep everyone fueled, grab a snack from a selection of on site food trucks. Charging stations and free WiFi from Shaw keep you connected to your favourite electronic device so you can virtually share the tasty treats.
Who will be at the Shaw Charity Classic?
Watch your favourite heroes of golf duel each other and the challenging course at Canyon Meadows this Labour day weekend. Over 70 players will be competing for a USD $2.35 million purse in a three-round, 54-hole stroke-play tournament. These tour professionals are all vying for the coveted Shaw Charity Classic trophy (and that tasty first prize!) Check out Autograph Alley on the 18th green to meet the Champions and maybe get a signature to keep forever.
What do I need to know about Golf Etiquette?
Focus and concentration are big parts of the game of golf, so it’s important to minimize distractions while the Champions are playing. Loud talking, playing music, and flash photography are all prohibited on the course. Cell phones are to be turned off or set to silent, and calls are allowed only in areas away from play. Please help us continue to show the golfing world that Calgary is rich with generous and respectful fans.
