The Last of Us (2023)
Based on the hit video game, The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic series on HBO starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. It's not only the first HBO series to be based on a video game, but the majority of Season 1 was filmed in Calgary and across Alberta, including sets constructed at SAIT, Inglewood, the Beltline, and other locations throughout downtown. The Last of Us debuted on HBO Max on January 15, 2023, earning it the title of second most-watched HBO premiere ever.

The Revenant (2015)
Acclaimed director Alejandro Iñárritu used the mountains of Kananaskis Country and the badlands near Drumheller as the backdrop of his wilderness epic. Follow in the footsteps of Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Hugh Glass, as he journeys through the Alberta landscape.

Brokeback Mountain (2005)
The legendary Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall in Calgary was home to the same cowboy saddles Jake Gyllenhaal checked in Brokeback Mountain. Ranchman's is one of Calgary’s favourite Western style dancehalls and one of the bars used for this famous love story where Jack met Lureen, breaking everyone’s heart (including Ennis).
Superman (1978)
Look up, look way up, and capture the views of downtown Calgary that made it the perfect stand in for the Metropolis skyline. Head to the top of the Calgary Tower and see where the prairies meet the mountains from Clark Kent’s perspective.

Fargo (2014-2022)
Calgary had the historic charm and quirky characters the Cohen Brothers needed to set the stage for Seasons 1-3 and 5 of the hit FX show. The city's oldest neighbourhood, Inglewood , often served as the backdrop for the series. Grab a slice at Inglewood Pizza (as featured in the series) for the ultimate small screen experience.

The Bourne Legacy (2012)
Discover all the beauty of Elbow Falls , straight from The Bourne Legacy, as Jeremy Renner's character, Aaron Cross, emerges from the icy waters. The mountain scenes were all shot in Kananaskis Country .

Cool Runnings (1993)
Feel the rhythm, feel the ride, and relive the famous 1988 Winter Olympic run of Cool Runnings at WinSport . While the bobsleigh track is no longer there, a replica of the Jamaican bobsleigh is on display at WinSport’s main entrance.
The Assassination of Jesse James (2007)
All aboard the steam locomotive at Heritage Park that will make you feel like the world's most infamous bank robber. Originally filmed on location at Fort Edmonton Park, Brad Pitt and the rest of the crew took a classic train just like this one for the western epic. Other parts of the movie were filmed on location at Heritage Park, the Fairmont Palliser , and nearby Kananaskis Country .

Heartland (2007-present)
Tour High River, the Home of Heartland, for an up-close look at the backdrop of the popular television series. Located 30 minutes south of Calgary, High River is filled with familiar streetscapes and locations from the fictional community of Hudson. Fans of the show will love this self-guided Heartland tour.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
A reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise was filmed in and around Calgary in 2019. Some key locations were Horsethief Canyon near Drumheller, the autobody shop in Beiseker, and the Chinese Restaurant 'Enjoy Garden' in Crossfield.
Can This Love Be Translated? (2026)
Episodes 4, 5, and 6 of the hit Korean rom-com were filmed in Calgary and surrounding locations in 2024. There are plenty of recognizable spots from the show that fans can visit including:
