Burwood Distillery started as an idea between friends and blossomed into a common vision to celebrate Alberta's agriculture by bringing world-class spirits to a thirsty town. A community hub, located in the restored historic Stable building of 1936, significant due to its association with Currie Barracks, the construction of which anchored the presence of permanent military forces in Calgary. Remember to grab a growler, ready to drink cocktails, Burwood bottles and some merchandise in the boutique shop before you leave.

Take the Burwood Distillery tour and experience an in-depth discussion of spirit production, from raw materials to finished product, and learn about what it takes to craft spirits from the finest raw Alberta ingredients, and try a spirit tasting after the tour. Watch for a selection of classes coming in the Education Centre from the whiskey and gin production process to beekeeping, cocktail and tastings. A “Bure” is a Croatian word for a barrel or cask, referring to higher quality spirits laid down for aging. Burwood’s name is a homage to the European roots that brought the founders together and the inspiration for many of their recipes. And the venue is bookable for private functions.
