Info
Alberta Prairie Fruit
Fruit and fun, it's in our DNA. From May to September 30, explore the 25 acre Upick orchard that grows 19 varieties of Saskatoons and is the oldest commercial grower of this berry in the world. DNA Gardens also grow nine other types of fruit all of which are available for Upick as long as the crops are favorable. At the garden, couples, families, and friends can enjoy fruit picking and plenty of fun. Owners Dave and Arden have been fruit farming for over 40 years, and all things fruit can be enjoyed at this charming rural attraction. Guests are invited for Friday brisket dinners, Sunday breakfasts, *no-amenity* camping, hiking, festivals and more. It's an ideal and easy day trip experience from Calgary, or possibly plan to stay the weekend with plenty to do and eat. Explore the farm store for local products, including the Delidais Estate Winery line of fruit wines and specialty liqueurs. Wine tasting tours in the orchard. Shop the farm-made products from jams, dessert toppings, juice and syrups, they make great gifts too. Relax on the covered patio café for a bite, or rest in the shaded picnic area. As a family friendly attraction, spend the afternoon or make a weekend of it with dry island buffalo jump only 20 minutes away. There's plenty of room to roam with nature walking trails, and many self-directed hikes to choose from. Enjoy free onsite parking. Watch the garden's website and Facebook page for updates on events and programming like the Ultimate Fruit Pancake Breakfast, Brisket and Beer, orchard wine tours and tastings, and weekend activities.
