The Calgary Pride Parade & Festival is back September 2-3, 2023 for a re-imagined 2 day festival at Prince's Island Park!

Centred around the Labour Day Weekend in September, Calgary Pride takes place at the beginning of September allowing for celebrations to occur all summer long starting in the Nationally recognized Pride Month in June. 

Each year Calgary plays host to one of its most colourful and fastest growing festivals, Calgary Pride. With its parade, performances, and community events, the city shows extra love for its 2SLGBTQ+ community and visitors who have come from near and far to celebrate. 

What to expect in Calgary during Pride

Throughout the summer, especially in August, you can find pop-up rainbow installations throughout Calgary’s downtown neighbourhoods including colourfully painted crosswalks, sidewalks, and bridges. During the Festival the Calgary Tower is lit up to support the 2SLGBTQ+ community. On Parade Day, thousands of Calgarians and visitors of all ages line the Parade route to share their sentiment of equal love.

In 2023 the annual Calgary Pride festivities are set to return to their beloved venue, Prince's Island Park, offering a welcoming space for all to come together and celebrate. This year's lineup promises a mix of adult-focused celebrations, family-friendly activities, and a delightful movie night under the stars.

On the Saturday, Prince's Island Park will transform into a haven of celebration for adults with a Pride Cabaret Soiree. From live performances to engaging workshops, the day promises an immersive experience that fosters connections and offers opportunities for self-expression. 

Sunday, September 2, 2023  

The focus on Sunday shifts to families, as the park welcomes all ages to partake in a day filled with fun activities, games, and entertainment tailored for kids and parents alike. 

Parade of Unity 

Kick off the second day of festivities on Sunday, by taking in the vibrant Pride Parade. As the city comes alive with a spectrum of colours, lively music, and jubilant spirits, participants will march through the streets, sending a powerful message of unity and acceptance. The parade stands as a testament to the progress made while highlighting the ongoing efforts towards a more inclusive society. 

Unwind Under the Stars 

The festive weekend wraps up with a screening of the 1995 comedy classic - Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Gather your loved ones, spread out your blankets, and bask in the magic of cinema under the starlit sky.  This laid-back experience provides a perfect way to wind down after the action-packed celebrations, offering time for relaxation and reflection.
