Get your Cultural Fix at the Calgary Philharmonic

Calgary Philharmonic has really stepped up their game when it comes to offerings for all ages and demographics. We love going to their rush hour shows where an expert tweets throughout the performance to give you a glimpse into the meaning behind the music. It's an amazing educational experience and how often are you actually encouraged to use your phone in a theatre? The rush hour performances are only an hour long so you don't have to commit a ton of time for get your cultural fix.

Enjoy a Mexican Feast at Gringo Street

Calgary's new Mexican restaurant on 17th Avenue has one of the funnest patios in the city. While compact in size, the shipping container facade really provides that street food experience. One of the richest Mexican menus in the city, the taco choices will give you a fresh perspective on this traditional dish. Don't expect your usual suspects here. With such a thing as a cheeseburger taco you know you won't be bored. Try their amazing salads and playfully decorated drinks to round off a stellar night.

Shop and Dine at East Village Junction

My favourite Calgary concept is here for another summer. A shipping container park featuring the cities favourite artisans and pop-ups, this is a great way to spend a weekend. Shop, take-in performances on the EV stage and indulge in our famous food trucks.

Festive Fun at Olympic Plaza

Olympic Plaza is an oldie, but a goodie, and is constantly reinventing itself. We love that Olympic Plaza is in the heart of the city, a prime spot for festivals and, in the winter, a great spot to go skating. In the summer, it's a wonderful spot to cool off in the fountains and feel like a kid again, and during Stampede, the best spot to witness all the action. One of my favourite moments was when the red ball called Olympic Plaza home on Canada Day!”

Escape to the Country

"Saskatoon Farms is such a great spot for a family day of picking berries and exploring Calgary’s backyard, literally. Come for a quick, weekend visit, the earlier in the day, the better, or during the week, to beat the crowds.”

Insider Tip: The farm also features a general store, on-site bakery and restaurant which serves up Mexican and Western cuisine.

Get Snapping at the Peace Bridge

“The Peace Bridge has become synonymous with Calgary and its culture. I love our city colour, red, and am always excited to see it used in a bigger scale like this. Enjoy it at night when it's lit up; unlimited photo ops!”

Marvel at the Calgary Skyline

“Calgary wouldn't be Calgary without its beautiful skyline. It's my favourite in the country and when the downtown core calms down after a day of work (around 6/6:30), the parkades are for the taking. You can find some really great photo spots when you just look up.”
