Calgary’s blue skies shine just a bit brighter during the warm-weather months with so much to see, do, and explore. As you browse the more than 200 festivals and events happening this summer, consider these top reasons why the Rogers Charity Classic should be on your calendar.
1) See the greatest names in golf
Former U.S. Open champion Ernie Els, three-time major winner Vijay Singh, World Golf Hall of Fame member Colin Montgomerie — these are just a few of the standout names who will tee off at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, August 17-23, 2026.
As the lone Canadian stop on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, the tournament gives Albertans a convenient chance to celebrate some of the game’s legends. You won’t just watch them from afar, either: The Planet Coffee putting green gives fans a closer look at this year’s cast of champions.
2) Calgary’s culinary and brewery scene shines
Instead of trying to race around the city to sample some of the best food and beer, you can find all that deliciousness in one spot. The Cenovus Energy Fan Zone will feature some of Calgary’s acclaimed food trucks, along with beverage tastings. And if you’re looking to watch the action while raising a toast, head to The Watering Hole at the 16th green where you can take advantage of Birdie Beers — half-priced brews for 10 minutes after each birdie on the hole.
3) Don’t worry about driving
Want to have another? Go for it. With complimentary shuttle service from the Anderson LRT Station directly to the main entrance, you can enjoy an afternoon at the course while ditching your keys.
4) Take your shot to make a difference
Come to the classic with your favorite charity in mind and put your short-game skills to the test in the $50K Charity Putting Challenge. It’s all part of the tournament’s mission ; over the past 12 years, the Rogers Charity Classic has helped raise more than $137 million for children and youth organizations across Alberta. Head to the course this year to make lucky-number 13 an even bigger success.
5) Your kids will love it
With a bouncy house, climbing zone, and jam-packed KidZone, the weekend offers fun for the youngest members of your family too. Plus, if your kiddos are already fans of the game, they’ll love Autograph Alley where they can score signatures from some of the biggest names on the course. And no matter where your kids are on their journey with golf, you don’t have to worry about paying for them: Guests 17 and under enjoy free admission.
