International Convention Anticipated to Bring $51M in Economic Impact and 23,000 Delegates to Calgary

Calgary prepares to welcome the largest Jehovah's Witnesses convention in July

May 27, 2026 (Calgary, Alberta) - This summer, Calgary will welcome more than 22,000 visitors to the Jehovah's Witnesses "Eternal Happiness" International Convention at the BMO Centre from July 31 to August 2, 2026. Calgary has been selected as one of only two Canadian host cities for the international convention series, which is expected to draw more than 3,500 delegates from 26 countries, alongside additional smaller regional conventions taking place across the country.

Welcoming the World to Calgary

Calgary’s warm, welcoming, hospitable reputation makes it particularly attractive for international visitation. The convention has become a global meeting point, with thousands of attendees travelling from the Mexico, Brazil, South Korea and several countries in between. To date, over 9,000 volunteers from the Jehovah Witnesses organization have signed up to support the event, helping ensure delegates feel  welcomed from the moment they arrive.

With direct routes to over 100 destinations and investments in infrastructure, hotels and experiences, Calgary has become globally recognized as a connected and accessible destination for major events.

Economic Impact and Local Benefits

The convention is expected to contribute $51 million in economic impact, boosting business for our hotels, restaurants, transportation services, local attractions, retailers and event venues. International visitors are expected to stay beyond the three-day convention, giving them plenty of opportunity to explore Calgary and surrounding sites.
