About the event
Create a matching earring and necklace set made from wolf willow beads while learning about the history, uses and preparation of the wolf willow from a Métis artisan.
The wolf willow shrub has been used by Indigenous Peoples and the Métis on the prairies for generations. From its use as decoration on clothing or in jewelry, as medicine, in weaving and many more, this important plant continues to be used in various ways today.
In this workshop, Métis artisan Janis Laboucane will teach you the history, uses, and preparation of the wolf willow bead, including the hands-on process of cleaning, boiling, piercing and drying the seeds to make beads. Janis will then lead you in making your own set of a bracelet and earrings made from wolf willow!
Workshop registration includes all materials and instruction.
