About the event
Personal but universal, Walking Home explores Warren's journey of caregiving for his mother as she progresses through Alzheimer's/dementia.
The story of the text hangs loosely around the progression of one day, as the narrator prepares a special Ukrainian dinner, their last meal at the family home before his parents are to transition into a seniors' residence the next day. As the day progresses, the narrator explores real and imagined, intertwined histories/personal mythologies, his mother’s, his Ukrainian grandmother Baba, and . . . Mozart; past and present collide with the questions: what is truth in memory and what is imagined?
