Step into the wonderfully whimsical world of mushrooms in this two-hour watercolor exploration. Using the iconic red-capped mushroom as our inspiration, we’ll explore how simple shapes, expressive brushwork, and layers of transparent color can create a mushroom full of character and dimension.

We’ll experiment with colour mixing, washes, layering, wet-on-dry techniques, texture, and fine details, from the rich reds and subtle variations of the cap to the earthy neutrals of the stem and loose grasses below.

Along the way, you’ll create small colour studies and explore how changing value, temperature, and colour combinations can completely change the personality of your painting.
