About the event
Join roots & blues artist Suzie Vinnick, a Canadian Folk Music Award winner, three-time Juno-nominated and 12-times Maple Blues award recipient, for an interactive workshop to discover her personal approach to songwriting. Focus on practical ways to develop songs from initial ideas into finished pieces, and learn how her songs evolve overtime. Suzie will explore object writing, a method to generate ideas and language, and share how she collects and organizes fragments in her ongoing “songwriting snippets” file. The workshop also looks at how blues song structures can be used as a foundation for original songwriting and shaped into more personal work. Participants will leave with practical writing exercises and approaches for moving from fragments to finished song ideas.
Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian and able to sit quietly throughout the workshop.
