About the event
Join Kate Stevens, 7 x YYC Music Award Winner (Including Folk and Pop recordings of the year) to explore everything from chord progressions and song structure to vocals, melody, and finding the right words to capture a feeling. Explore ways to put that yearning, curiosity, heartbreak, and joy down onto paper and then out into the world. “I’ve written songs alone, and I’ve been in rooms packed with other songwriters, and one thing I’ve learned is - the more specific and honest you get, the more people tend to connect with it”. Sometimes the songs that feel the most personal end up being the most universal.
This workshop is part of 7 workshops series (can attend all or select) with the Rocky Mountain Listening Room for the headlining artists who are performing the following evening. Visit the website for more information: https://www.rockylisteningroom.com/
Workshops take place at Dalhousie Community Hall, and concerts (additional ticket needed) take place at Rosedale Community Hall.
Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian and be able to sit quietly throughout the workshop.
