About the event
SONG CIRCLE — An Evening of Original Music Friday, May 29 · 7:30–9:30 pm · $20 Cornerstone Music Cafe, Calgary
An evening of original music presented by three Calgary-based recording artists, each taking a turn to share the stories behind their songs and their journeys as songwriters and performers.
Always interesting. Always unexpected. Bring a friend and enjoy the warmth and community of a cozy, intimate live music event.
Carolyn Harley — Host & Performer Carolyn hosts the evening and performs alongside her guests. Her song My Alberta Home was nominated for Folk Recording of the Year (2025) and there's a good chance she'll invite the whole room to sing along. She may also dip into her comedy show Women, Wit & Wisdom for a surprise or two.
Natasha Sayer A Métis songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music educator, Natasha has been teaching and performing in and around Calgary for over 30 years. She has released two solo albums and recorded extensively with beloved folk trio Magnolia Buckskin and the genre-shifting ensemble The Fragments. Her deeply personal songs draw from a life richly lived growing up on an Alberta farm, navigating city life, riding her motorcycle through the mountains. Powerful vocals, compelling storytelling, and a deep belief that music is medicine. Expect to be moved.
Norm Rooke (Cochrane, AB) Norm began his singer-songwriter journey in the early 1980s, earning radio airplay across Canada and television appearances of the era. After a 30-year career as a commercial airline pilot during which he remained active as a bassist in folk, roots, Americana and bluegrass bands across Alberta, Norm has returned to centre stage. His brand-new album If Not Now Then When, produced by Paul Zacharias of Wheelhouse Sound, is a guitar-driven blend of folk, rock, country and rockabilly. Reflective, thoughtful, and occasionally lighthearted songs with a seasoned perspective on today's world. We can't wait to hear them live.
