Inner Elder premiered at Lunchbox Theatre as part of One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo in 2018 to standing ovations and sold-out houses.
Award-winning Cree artist Michelle Thrush weaves real-life memories with laughter, grace, and playfulness to explore her inner Elder. From a childhood spent searching for Indigenous representation while flipping through television channels, to first finding success as an actor while being cast as a stereotype of her culture, Thrush brings her story to life with vivid humour as she navigates a world of substance abuse, aliens, and the spiritual presence of her guiding grandmothers.
No audience is prepared for what happens when Thrush finally embodies her inner Elder.
