Spruce up yer turkey-feathered head-dresses and saddle up yer pintos, folks! The Calgary Folk Music Festival is proud to present this inspired theatre/film hybrid, directed by Michelle Thrush, with music and video by Peter Moller, created and performed by a posse of beloved Calgary artists: Telly James, Caleigh Crow, Chantal Vitalis, Jamie Konchak, Jamie Tognazzini, Jared Tailfeathers, Norvin Eagle Speaker and Kris Demeanor. Called “a joyful and hilarious roast of the Hollywood westerns that have shaped our imaginations,” this playful, powerful performance takes original movie footage from nearly 100 years ago and mashes it back together like a punch in a saloon brawl that sends you crashin’ over tables and smashin’ out the front window. But here’s the catch – the sound and music is live and in person. That’s right! Bonafide real Indians and cowboys will be right under that silver screen, whoopin’ and hollerin’, yodelin’ and revoicing those ol’ timey moving pictures. The show runs nightly Wednesday – Saturday June 3 – 6, with a 3:00 pm matinee on Saturday at Festival Hall.
