Dido & Aeneas
About the event
Students in Collegium and Chamber choir present English Baroque composer Henry Purcell’s 1689 work, Dido and Aeneas.
Based on Roman myth, this is the story of the tragic love between Dido, queen of Carthage, and Aeneas, a Trojan prince in exile after the fall of Troy. When supernatural forces call Aeneas away from his idyll with Dido to pursue his destiny as the future founder of the nation of Rome, Dido dies from grief.
1 hour 15 minutes - performed with no intermission.
