Former Top Chef Canada and Top Chef Mexico star Elia Herrera is known for her upscaleMexican delicacies. Herrera has been featured in several TV Shows such as BreakfastTelevision, Morning Live, and magazines like Toronto Life, Post City, Blog TO, Toronto SUN,she also has appeared as judge on Master Chef Canada as well as Post City Toronto’sBest Tacos Al Pastor alongside Chef Mark McEwan
Chef Herrera is a Gold Medal Winner for Canada’s Great Kitchen Party 2018, previouslyknown as Gold Metal Plates. It’s a social enterprise that’s dedicated to buildingcommunity regionally and nationally to celebrate Canadian excellence in food, sportand music. She has participated in multiple Food and Wine festivals national andinternationally.
Chef Elia Herrera has collaborated in the opening and success of various restaurants inCanada and abroad, such as Colibri in Toronto, Milpa in Calgary, SiSi Restaurante at ThePalms in Turks & Caicos.
Herrera’s strong sense of community and giving back is present in Canada and Mexico.She has worked with Second Harvest Canada’s largest food rescue charity, Eat to theBeat. It’s the only event in Canada of women supporting women through the challengesthat come with a breast cancer diagnosis. She created “Salut for Mexico” to supportpeople affected by earthquake in Mexico on September 2017.
She was invited to be part in the documentary “Chef Stories”, selected by the TorontoShort Film Festival. Featuring the excellence and diversity of recognized celebrity Chefsin Calgary and Canada. Which has been awarded as Best Short Documentary of 2025in Toronto.
