After Hours Artist Talk: "Within the Spaces" with Elsa Robinson

Join us as we welcome storied artist Elsa Robinson for an artist talk featuring her piece, *Masquerade*, now showcased on our New Acquisition Feature Wall at the AFA *art house*. In her work, Elsa combines concepts from her cultural heritages as a Jamaican and as a Canadian. Combining those cultural influences through her work is a way of honouring both her 'homes' and her Ancestors. She uses her remarkable artistry to create conversation, reflection, and moments of undeniable emotional connection, where the humanity of the viewer and the artist herself are held in mutual integrity and esteem.

About the Artist
Elsa Robinson is a Jamaican-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and instructor based in Edmonton, where she has lived since 1984. Her decades-long devotion to her visual art practice instils her work with vibrancy and an intuitive spiritual poignancy. Elsa's art is informed by personal experience and the history of her people. It is also informed by Black Feminism, Afrofuturism, and Afro-Surrealism -- movements for the liberation of all peoples from all forms of oppression.
