SUMMARY:Roy Forbes with opener Mike Crampton
DESCRIPTION:Roy Forbes is one of Canada’s best-loved songwriters and perf
orming artists. From his searing rendition of Hank Williams’ So Lonesome
I Could Cry\, to his sweet treat Christmas anthem\, Mince Meat Tart\, or Li
fting My Heart\, Roy has made his mark as a solo artist\, band leader and s
ongwriter. As host of Roy’s Record Room on CKUA\, he’s a popular histor
ian of 78 RPM records. The last few years have been a challenge. Having dea
lt with poor vision all his life\, Roy was blinded by an accident. As Roy b
egan getting used to a life without sight\, new songs began to emerge. Edge
  of Blue is 10 songs full of wisdom\, confessions\, vulnerability\, self- r
eflection\, and celebration. These are songs with memorable words\, compell
ing compositions\, and a voice every bit as original as when the “kid ful
l of dreams” first hit the big city over fifty years ago – pure Roy For
bes.\n\nMike Crampton writes songs that behave like good stories. They arri
ve funny\, sneak up on something honest\, and leave you thinking about a li
ne long after the show is over. Based in Didsbury Alberta\, Mike blends dry
humour with sharp\, observant songwriting about modern absurdities\, awkwa
rd humanity\, and the moments we don’t always say out loud. His debut alb
um Death\, Dying\, and Other Hilarious Topics moves easily between wit and
vulnerability\, pairing laugh-out-loud songs with quieter\, unexpected turn
 s. A Mike Crampton show is more than just listening\; it is shared. Expect
plenty of singing along\, playful back-and-forth\, and the kind of easy aud
ience interaction that turns a room full of strangers into co-conspirators
for the night. Come for the humour\, stay for the heart\, and be ready to s
ing a little louder than you planned.\n\nhttps://www.visitcalgary.com/event
