SUMMARY:Immigration Isn’t Tragedy\, It’s Strategy: The Economic Case fo
 r Newcomers in Alberta
DESCRIPTION:At this installment of Hot Dogs & Hot Takes on History\, leadin
 g expert on the economics and social impacts of immigration Dr. Nketti John
 ston-Taylor explores the historical impacts of newcomers on our community\;
  not just economically\, but also culturally and socially.\n\nIn this curre
 nt age where the contributions of immigrants are constantly questioned and
 accused of “taking away” from current residents\, Nketti challenges us
 to consider what Calgary and Alberta would look like without the diversity
 that we now enjoy. In the wake of the referendum results\, she asks us to c
 onsider whether limiting immigration is truly the key to building a prosper
 ous\, sustainable economy and society.\n\nCome for the hot dogs\, stay for
 the conversation about how immigration doesn’t take away\, but in fact ma
 kes us stronger.\n\nhttps://www.visitcalgary.com/events/immigration-isnt-tr
