SUMMARY:Amanda McCavour: From Line to Thread
DESCRIPTION:This talk offers an introduction to Amanda McCavour’s work\,
followed by a behind-the-scenes look at how a handful of projects came to b
 e. Rather than presenting finished pieces alone\, McCavour traces the proce
ss behind them — early drawings\, failed experiments\, and the incrementa
l studio decisions that shape a small idea into a large-scale piece. Part a
rtist talk\, part studio diary\, this lecture seeks to talk about what happ
ens between the first sketch and the final installation.\n\nAmanda McCavour
is a Toronto-based artist who works with stitch to create large-scale embr
oidered installations. She is interested in thread’s assumed vulnerabilit
y\, its ability to unravel\, and its strength when it is sewn together. McC
avour holds a BFA from York University where she studied drawing and instal
lation and has recently completed her MFA in Fibers and Material Studies at
Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia\, PA. Her work is featured in Nickle G
alleries’ current exhibition\, Held. Together curated by Jenelle M. Pasie
 chnik.\n\nhttps://www.visitcalgary.com/events/amanda-mccavour-from-line-to-
