DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “He Was Taken Up Into The Sky” featuring the wor
 k of Alberta artist Samantha Harrison.\n\n“He Was Taken Up Into the Sky s
 peaks of the potential for perceiving divinity within the human form\, and 
 the ways in which people – even when flawed – can be powerful\, impactf
 ul\, and immensely beautiful beings. Most of the portraits are a part of a 
 large body of work depicting individuals as deities of primarily Greco-Roma
 n origin. They aim to match each model to different figures based on a mome
 nt of perceived similarity\, while also deliberately mismatching the models
  in other aspects of their visual characteristics. The goal of these painti
 ngs is to honour each individual\, to engage with ancient stories contempor
 arily and inclusively\, and to provide viewers with an opportunity to refle
 ct upon the stories associated with each character.”\n\nA virtual artist
