DESCRIPTION:Contemporary Connections is a guided tour series designed to ma
 ke art accessible and engaging for Calgary’s diverse communities. These e
 vents create a welcoming and inclusive space for participants to explore ou
 r exhibitions and connect with others\, fostering meaningful relationships 
 through the shared experience of contemporary art. \n\nAdmission: Free with
  advance registration\; walk-ins welcome\, space permitting \n\nExhibition 
 Tour: Ghazaleh Avarzamani: Churn\, Earn\, Burn and then Return \n\nDuration
 : 30-minute guided tour\, followed by a post-tour conversation and optional
  mini mixer \n\nGuide: Sophie Garcia is a Filipino educator and curator liv
 ing and working in Mohkinstsis\, Treaty 7 Territory. Originally from Manila
 \, she immigrated to Canada in 2019 and draws on her lived experience as a 
 newcomer in both her art and teaching practice. She is passionate about sha
 ring diverse voices within the Canadian art landscape through community-roo
 ted work in educational and artistic spaces. She has facilitated art worksh
 ops for children\, newcomers\, and older adults alongside non-profit organi
 zations and has organized exhibitions across Calgary. Her curatorial work e
 xplores how belonging\, memory\, and identity are shaped by and rooted in t
 he land. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education with
  a minor in Museum & Heritage Studies from the University of Calgary\, and 
 currently teaches with the Calgary Board of Education. \n\nWe welcome your
