SUMMARY:A Ritual of Wishing: Community Cyanotype Project
DESCRIPTION:Join artists Cy Yang-Smith (BDes '16\, Photography) and Leia Gu
o (BFA '22\, Glass and BDes '23\, Photography) for a FREE community cyanoty
pe-making workshop at Calgary's Historic Firehall No. 1!\n\nParticipants of
ALL AGES are invited to drop in to create a cyanotype — an early photogr
aphic process that uses sunlight and water to produce a vivid prussian blue
image. Inspired by Yoko Ono’s ‘event scores’\, participants will be
guided by a reflective prompt to arrange objects\, shapes\, and natural mat
erials to create their own unique sunprints.\n\nEach cyanotype will become
a part of a growing collective artwork that reflects the perspectives\, wis
hes\, and creativity of the community. The completed installation will be a
ssembled by the artists and exhibited at the Historic Firehall from July 27
  - August 7\, celebrating the many hands that helped bring it to life.\n\nN
o artistic experience is required\, and all materials will be provided. Thi
s is a welcoming and accessible event for all. Drop in\, make art using wat
er and sunlight\, and learn about one of photography’s oldest image-makin
 g techniques under Calgary’s summer sky!\n\nhttps://www.visitcalgary.com/
