  notebooks created during his 10+ years in exile\, following the Red River 
 Resistance of 1869-70.\n\nHow does this single historical item shed new lig
 ht on the life of its creator? What questions remain unanswered? \n\n \n\nT
 he notebook appears in one of David Garneau’s paintings featured in the e
 xhibition\, Reading the Ruins\, currently on display at the University of C
 algary’s Founders’ Gallery (located inside The Military Museums). \n\n 
 \n\nAttendees will learn more about the context of Garneau’s paintings ex
 ploration of colonial rupture and non-colonial re-framing\, with a focus on
  how selected belongings from UCalgary’s military collection of North-Wes
 t Mounted Police era artefacts are recontextualized in Reading the Ruins.\n
