 eading the Still Lives of David Garneau. Published by the University of Reg
 ina Press\, this richly annotated full-colour book features essays by seven
 teen writers and poets including Susan Musgrave\, Billy-Ray Belcourt\, Fred
  Wah\, Larissa Lai\, John G Hampton. Available for purchase at the Museum G
 ift Shop for $34.60 (incl. tax)\n\nDavid Garneau: Dark Chapters and Reading
  the Ruins comprises a pairing of exhibitions by Canadian MĂ©tis artist and
  scholar\, David Garneau. Dark Chapters\, curated by Arin Fay\, uses metaph
 orical still life paintings to share the lived experience of contemporary I
 ndigenous people contending with the legacy of colonialism and institutiona
 l containment.\n\nReading the Ruins\, curated by Dick Averns\, continues th
 e vein of still life paintings to contemplate current conflicts in Ukraine 
 and Palestine\, and the ongoing legacy of the Dark Times that followed the 
 repression of MĂ©tis people. Reading the Ruins\, includes new paintings fea
 turing NWMP-era artefacts from the holdings of University of Calgary Librar
 ies\, Special Collections and Archives. The re-contextualized paramilitary
