At the end of the 1800s, Alberta was raw and unsettled. The Canadian government launched a campaign called The Last Best West; its purpose was to populate the western prairies and grow agriculture in Canada. The administration believed that this area was the Last Best chance in the modern world for homesteaders to lay roots and shape their futures. We think the accomplishments resulting from the Last Best initiative have paved the way for the budding craft beer and distilling industries here in Alberta. We honour this historical spirit through our name and our unwavering commitment to making delicious well-crafted beer, spirits, and Alberta-inspired cuisine. One of Calgary’s most vibrant microbrewers and distilleries, Last Best has an impressive list of core beers and gins with fun seasonal brews and cocktails. Proud to be a community player, the bar also keeps a guest tap open so that visitors can try out other local breweries. The food at Last Best never plays second fiddle — compliment your pint with some gourmet bar snacks, a burger or a chef-inspired entree. Happy hour: Monday to Thursday, 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to late; Friday/Saturday, 3 to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to late; plus all day Sunday.
