Purpose of the Award:
To honour an individual’s commitment and longevity in the tourism and hospitality industry which is demonstrated by 20+ years of continuous service.
Criteria:
- A commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry through continuous service for a min. 20-years.
- How the nominee has contributed to the enhancement of the industry by holding high standards of service throughout their career.
- A true Calgary Ambassador.
- All levels of management
- Owners/Operators
- Front Line employees
- Volunteers
- The submission should be completed by the employee and/or employer to ensure accuracy, eligibility requirements and to make for a strong and comprehensive submission.
- A complete, and up-to-date, resume – including the current role and years of service, at time of nomination.
- A recent colour picture:
- vertical orientation only
- 1080 pixels wide
- a blank white, or light coloured, background
- do not include any items such as décor, props, windows, hats (unless part of work uniform).
- Submissions that do not include all the listed requirements MAY not be considered.
Nominations can be submitted in two ways:
Nominees are identified during their official CWHA interview by the interviewers, and are invited by the CWHA committee (via email) to submit a second, separate nomination in the category, through the online portal at https://www.visitcalgary.com/doug-johnson-white-hat-award-questionnaire
- At any time while nominations are being accepted through the online portal.
- Deadline for all DJSA submissions: Tuesday, March 18, 2025 – 12:00 PM (noon)
Process:
- The selection committee’s decision is based entirely on the information provided, please provide as much support material as possible (i.e., copies of staff awards and letters of support).
- Upon receipt of the submission, the submitter will receive a confirmation email.
- No further correspondence will be processed on the state of the submission.
- Tourism Calgary and the Calgary White Hat Awards Committee reserves the right to reject any submission(s) or nomination(s) at their discretion.
- All winners will be announced live at the Awards Show Gala on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
