Each spring, from April through June, the Olympic Oval undergoes a remarkable transformation as its iconic ice surface is removed, unveiling more than 150,000 square feet of unobstructed event space. During this period, the venue becomes one of Calgary’s most versatile rental facilities, hosting an impressive range of events including national sporting competitions, trade and consumer shows, automotive exhibitions, commercial film productions, science fairs, and large-scale special events. As summer draws to a close, the Oval once again converts back into a world-class ice facility, supporting seasonal speed skating, elite athlete training, international competitions, public skating programs, and major ice-based events. This unique seasonal evolution highlights the Olympic Oval’s exceptional adaptability — seamlessly operating as both a premier high-performance sport venue and one of Calgary’s most distinctive and dynamic event destinations.
