Mayor's White Hat Award Nomination Form

Criteria

Purpose of the Award:

To honour an individual who has made a significant and recognizable contribution to the tourism industry in Calgary.

Criteria must show:

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Creation of a legacy or positive recognition program or event enhancing or promoting Calgary, locally, nationally, or internationally.
  • A true Calgary Ambassador.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to the industry.
  • Capabilities must include proficient job skills, leadership abilities, positive role modeling, a team player attitude and approach.
  • The nominee’s education and training will be considered.
  • All levels of management –    Owners/Operators –    Front Line employees –    Volunteers are not eligible for this category.
  • The submission should be completed by the employee and/or employer to ensure accuracy, eligibility requirements and to make for a strong and comprehensive submission. 
  • A complete, and up-to-date, resume – including the current role and years of service, at time of nomination.
  • A recent colour picture:  –    vertical orientation only –    1080 pixels wide  –    a blank white, or light coloured, background  –    do not include any items such as décor, props, windows, hats (unless part of work uniform). 
  • Submissions that do not include all the listed requirements MAY not be considered. 

Nominations can be submitted in two ways:

  • Nominees are identified during their official CWHA interview by the interviewers, and are invited by the CWHA committee (via email) to submit a second, separate nomination in the category, through the online portal at https://www.visitcalgary.com/mayors-white-hat-award-questionnaire
  • At any time while nominations are being accepted through the online portal. 
  • Deadline for all MWHA submissions: Tuesday, March 18, 2025 – 12:00 PM (noon)

Process:

  • The selection committee’s decision is based entirely on the information provided, please provide as much support material as possible (i.e., copies of staff awards and letters of support).
  • Upon receipt of the submission, the submitter will receive a confirmation email.
  • No further correspondence will be processed on the state of the submission.
  • Tourism Calgary and the Calgary White Hat Awards Committee reserves the right to reject any submission(s) or nomination(s) at their discretion.
  • All winners will be announced live at the Awards Show Gala on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
