Purpose of the Award:
To honour an individual who has made a significant and recognizable contribution to the tourism industry in Calgary.
Criteria:
- A minimum of 5 years with the same employer.
- Creation of a legacy or positive recognition program or event enhancing or promoting Calgary, locally, nationally, or internationally.
- A true Calgary Ambassador.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to the industry.
- Capabilities must include proficient job skills, leadership abilities, positive role modeling, a team player attitude and approach.
- The nominee’s education and training will be considered.
Eligibility:
All levels of management
- Owners/Operators
- C-Suite & Senior Management
- Frontline employees
PLEASE NOTE - Volunteers are not eligible for this category.
Submission:
- Should be completed by the employee and employer to ensure accuracy, eligibility requirements and to make for a strong and comprehensive submission.
- Should include an up-to-date, resume, or official employer letter, including a description of the nominees’ current role and years of service.
- Should include any support material (i.e., project outline, staff awards, commendations, certificates of achievement, letters of support, etc.)
- Once a submission is received, Tourism Calgary will organize for an official photo to be taken of the nominee - if required.
- Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Nomination:
- By invitation: Nominees who are identified as being exceptional candidates, (at their official standard category interview), are invited by the Calgary White Hat Awards committee (via email), to submit a nomination in the recommended honorary category.
- By Employer: Nominees who are identified as being exceptional candidates, by their employer, can be nominated in either of the honorary categories through the online portal.

- Submissions deadline is Monday, March 23, 2026 at, 12:00 PM
Process:
- Upon receipt of the submission, the submitter will receive a confirmation email.
- No further correspondence will be provided on the status of the submission.
- The selection committee’s decision will be based solely on the information provided in the honorary submission.
- Tourism Calgary and the Calgary White Hat Awards Committee reserves the right to reject any submission(s) or nomination(s) at their discretion.
- All winners will be announced live at the Calgary White Hat Awards Gala.
