Richard Bartrem is a marketing and communications executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience and the founder of 13 Stories Marketing Communications. He is known for turning strategy into powerful brand stories, building high-performing teams, and driving brand growth through bold, creative thinking. 

Richard has served on several boards, including those for Destination Canada, the Association of Canadian Advertisers, and the National Airline Council of Canada, and he currently serves on the board of the Trellis Foundation in Calgary.

A senior business leader with 30+ years of experience in the upstream and midstream energy industry, Dave has gained expertise in business acquisition and integration, finance, reporting, and efficient business processes. 

An experienced board member in both the for profit and not-for-profit space, Dave serves as a board director at both West Island College and Criterium Energy Ltd. He also previously served on the board of the Werklund Centre and Calgary Opera.

A business owner and communications strategist, Laurie has 30 years of experience in strategic communications, government relations, marketing, and reputation management.

She has a strong business network in Calgary spanning multiple sectors, as well as governance, leadership, and facilitation skills honed through corporate, consulting, and board positions.

Laurie has also volunteered for several local boards and committees, including the Calgary Bid Exploration Committee; the Calgary Chamber’s Public and Government Affairs Advisory Committee; BioAlberta; and the Canadian Association of Income Funds.

An avid traveler, she has visited more than two dozen countries. Locally, she attends countless Calgary music, dance, theatre and sport events every year and skis every chance she gets. 

“My favourite thing to do in Calgary is to enjoy live music at one of the city’s many festivals, small venues, or the gorgeous Bella Concert Hall.”

General Manager, The Westin Calgary

Peter’s is a seasoned hotelier with over 30 years of experience. He worked at four Delta properties in different leadership roles before becoming general manager of the Calgary Marriott Downtown, where he held the position until joining the team at The Westin Calgary.

During his career, Peter has been a member of many boards and associations. He was an active member of the Whistler Hotel Association as one of the founders and was an active board member of Tourism Vancouver before relocating to Calgary in 2018. He currently serves as Past Chair for the Calgary Hotel Association.

Originally from Toronto, Peter has spent most of his career in British Columbia in Vancouver as General Manager of the Delta Vancouver Downtown Suites and previously as General Manager of Delta Whistler Village Suites, where he oversaw the hotel’s operation during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Jacqui is a highly accomplished executive leader and trusted advisor to CEOs and boards, bringing more than 30 years of experience shaping and transforming global organizations. Her expertise spans performance and rewards, diversity and inclusion, brand and communications, corporate governance, and large-scale change leadership — all delivered with a sharp focus on driving measurable impact.

Throughout her career, Jacqui has held several senior leadership roles, including Executive Vice-President & Chief People Officer at Element Fleet Management; EVP, Safety and Organization Effectiveness at Cenovus Energy; and Head of Global Human Resources at Talisman Energy. 

With deep HR and organizational transformation expertise—and a proven ability to lead high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams while strengthening culture—Jacqui brings exceptional strategic value to Tourism Calgary’s Board of Directors.

Muhammad has served in management and director-level roles at Canadian financial institutions for nearly 15 years and holds an MBA in Strategy and Leadership from Queen’s University. His experience in assessing risks and risk mitigation as well as financial, industry and trend analysis are invaluable to our board. 

An immigrant to Canada, Muhammad recognizes the important of supporting new arrivals to the country. He served on the board of Calgary’s Centre for Newcomers and shared his time, expertise, and mentorship with the Calgary Catholic Immigrants Society.

Producer/Director/Technologist, Radiance Digital

Barry is a producer, filmmaker, technologist, and industry strategist working at the intersection of emerging technology, renewable energy, and the creative economy. Over the past decade, he has led Radiance Digital, a business development and strategy consultancy focused on harnessing artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to accelerate innovation, technology, and entertainment.

Barry is also the founder of Red Sun Digital, a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to empowering the next generation of Indigenous entrepreneurs through access to technology, mentorship, and industry opportunities. His work focuses on building pathways for Indigenous participation in high-growth sectors while supporting economic development and digital workforce training.

Through these efforts, Barry works with industry leaders, governments, and community partners to develop sustainable opportunities that connect culture, innovation, and economic growth.
