Calgary Selected to Host 2026 Canada Open International Taekwondo Championships
Ottawa, ON – Taekwondo Canada is proud to announce that the city of Calgary, Alberta has been selected as the host city for the 2026 Canada Open Taekwondo Championships. Taekwondo Canada is also pleased to partner with the Alberta Taekwondo Association in bringing this important event to the province.
The event, to be hosted by WinSport Calgary, is scheduled to take place February 26th to February 28th, 2026, and will feature the world’s top taekwondo athletes competing for championship status and valuable World Taekwondo points in the international stage. As well as the Canada Open, a colour belt tournament, hosted by the Alberta Taekwondo Association is planned for March 1st, 2026.
This event, though not yet released on the official 2026 World Taekwondo (WT) or the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) schedules, will feature competitors from an estimated 70 countries competing in both kyorugi and poomsae disciplines at the Cadet, Junior and Senior age groups. An information package will be released soon with full details on the competition schedule, accommodation, venue, and more.

Dave Harris, Executive Director of Taekwondo Canada said of the naming of Calgary as host city: “Taekwondo Canada is extremely pleased to name Calgary as the host for the 2026 Canada Open.
