Can I still visit Calgary?

Yes! Most of our destinations and attractions are open for business and conditions are safe across a vast majority of the city. Check the location you are planning to visit on the City of Calgary News Blog. For information on getting to and around Calgary, please visit Alberta Transportation and the Calgary Transit website.

Is the Calgary International Airport still open?

Yes the airport is open and at the time of this update, no related delays have been reported. Visit the Calgary Airport Authority website for the latest flight information and updates.

Where can I stay?

At this time, only one hotel in Calgary remains closed. You can check the operational status of hotels and other businesses here.

Which areas are affected?

The communities that experienced the brunt of the flood damage are those located adjacent to the Bow and Elbow Rivers. Check the location you are planning to visit on the City of Calgary News Blog. Recovery efforts are ongoing in some of the most affected areas of the city.

Is the damage significant?

Some areas were hit harder than others. Those communities located adjacent to the Bow and Elbow Rivers experienced extensive flooding and recovery is ongoing. Tune in to local media reports and follow Tourism Calgary on Twitter and the City of Calgary on Twitter for the lastest updates and news alerts.

Is the Calgary Stampede still going ahead?

Calgary's spirit is alive and well, and the Calgary Stampede is in full swing from July 5-14, 2013. Please visit the Calgary Stampede website for more updates.

How can I get around the city?

Taxi services and Calgary Transit public transportation are running however changes may occur based on road closures and conditions. For information on route changes or closures, please visit the Calgary Transit website.

Are there activities and attractions available in Calgary?

Of course! At this time, most attractions and activity operators are open. Please visit this page to check the operational status of activity providers and other businesses here.

Can I travel West to Canmore or Banff?

Yes. On June 26, Parks Canada is announced that the Trans-Canada Highway re-opened at 3 pm east of the town of Banff, for both private and commercial vehicles. Please visit Alberta Transportation for updates on road conditions.

How can I help?
