Tourism Calgary welcomes new team members

 Tourism Calgary is pleased to welcome a few new team members who will help us achieve the priorities laid out in our strategic plan. Through the hiring process we have been impressed with the quality and number of applicants, which is a real indication of how exciting our industry is and how much fun it is to promote Calgary.

 The corporate development and membership department is now referred to as the industry relations department, which is more reflective of their role and better aligned to our strategic plan. As such, a few titles have been adjusted and our team remains committed to building connections through communicating and sharing resources, offering educational, networking and marketing opportunities and fishing for stories from the entire Calgary tourism industry.

 Kristyn Snell – PR and Trade Coordinator

Kristyn is a lover of food, wine, travel and all things social media. A graduate of the communications program at Royal Roads University and with nearly a decade of customer service experience (including being a flight attendant), Kristyn joins Tourism Calgary from Immedia PR where she handled Calgary culinary clients such as: CHARCUT Roast House and the Vintage Group. Kristyn will be working with the public relations and travel trade teams to manage media and tour operator visits, build partnerships with our industry and share our incredible stories and experiences with these key visitors.

 Amie Seier – Social Media Coordinator

Amie comes to Tourism Calgary highly recommend from a number of industry partners. She brings with her experience in online community management, digital marketing and knowledge of the tourism industry. On top of her passion for the city, Amie’s skillset and bright personality will be a great addition to the Tourism Calgary team. Amie is managing our social media channels and working with our partners to share content people want, when they want it and where they’ll read it – quality engagement is at the heart of our social strategy.

 Caren Kaufmann – Visitor Services & Event Hosting Coordinator

Caren Kaufmann has moved to our head office after serving Calgary’s visitors for the past three years as the supervisor of the Calgary Tower Visitor Information Centre. Caren’s infectious passion for Calgary and her dedication to delivering exceptional customer service made her a perfect fit for an exciting new role designed to ensure that Calgary’s major events are fully leveraged and that our visitors get all the information they need to make the most of their vacation.

 Kaitlyn Hakvoort – Calgary Tower Visitor Information Centre Supervisor

Kaitlyn worked at the Tower VIC last fall and has been well trained by Caren Kaufmann and Ann Staples. Since her contract, she has been a dedicated volunteer at the VIC each week, soaking up more information on ‘what to see and do’ in order to share with visitors and Calgarians alike.

Kaitlyn comes to us from Ontario as a Brock University honours graduate in Tourism and Environment and has eight years of experience in customer service, travel planning and tourism related retail.
